


Advanced Meditation, Pranayama, Bandha, Nidra, Mudra, Mantra & Sound - In Person 2/14 - 2/15/26
We will explore the deep states of meditation and consciousness, and what recent studies tell us about meditation. We will experience varies meditation styles and their origins.
We will study the myriad of pranayama practices and their effects on our nervous system and our mind. Relationship between asana, pranayama and meditation. Review of the Yoga Sutras as they relate to pranayama in the 4th limb.
Students will be introduced to the different types of pranayama techniques, understand pranayama in relation to the Sutras. Students will learn how to develop a personal practice and how to approach teaching these techniques in public classes, workshops and private yoga classes and how different patterns of pranayama affect the nervous system.
We will look at the essential bandhas of the body, the physical location of the bandhas and explore the dynamic and energetic potential they can create in pranayama. Step by step guide to feeling the Bandhas in our own practice and applying them to form.
We will study how to teach bandhas to students in a classroom setting and learn to observe and assist students in a classroom environment when teaching bandhas.
We will explore what Yoga Nidra is, its history, the science of sleep and brain activity, We will discuss the benefits of a Nidra practice, traveling through the Koshas and different Nidra styles and practices.
We will review the science and use of various Mudras
We will study the role of Mantra and Chanting in Asana, Pranayama and Meditation. Students will have an understanding of the history mantra and chanting and the role it plays in our Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation and how to effectively teach Mantra and Chanting in a group setting.
We will study sound and look at the history of sound in meditation, the impact of sound and soundwaves on the body and why Soundbaths are effective.
